How We Rate & Review
Our reviews are written by our editorial team, independently of the companies we cover. Ratings are set from hands-on research against a fixed set of criteria — never by how much a company pays. Here is exactly how we do it.
The five criteria we score
Every broker and exchange is scored 1–10 on each of five criteria; the overall score is their average.
- Regulation & safety — licensing by tier-1 regulators, client-fund protection, company track record and transparency.
- Spreads & fees — typical spreads on major pairs, commissions, swaps and non-trading fees, measured on a live account where possible.
- Platforms & tools — choice and quality of trading platforms, execution, charting, mobile apps and automation.
- Support & service — availability, responsiveness and quality of customer support, plus account opening experience.
- Deposits & withdrawals — funding methods, fees, minimums and how quickly withdrawals are actually processed.
How we gather the data
We combine the provider's official documentation with hands-on checks: opening accounts where feasible, measuring spreads during active market hours, and verifying regulatory licences directly with the regulators' public registers. Figures such as spreads, leverage and fees change often — each review shows a visible "Updated" date so you know how current it is.
Editorial independence & affiliate disclosure
Some outbound links to providers are affiliate links: if you open an account through them we may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you. This never influences our scores, our rankings, or what we write. Sponsored placements, if any, are always clearly labelled and excluded from editorial scoring.
Corrections
Markets and provider terms move quickly. If you spot something out of date or inaccurate, tell us and we will verify and update it.
